A Section 18A Tax Certificate means that a business or individual who donates to the Little Fighters Cancer Trust, a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), can legally claim part of that donation back from SARS when submitting a tax return. πŸ“¨

In simple terms:
✨️The donation helps feed Children with Cancer and supports their Families as far as possible.
✨️SARS allows the donor to reduce taxable income by the value of the approved donation.
✨️This makes giving more affordable and sustainable, especially during times of economic pressure.

From a wider perspective, Section 18A donations strengthen:

poster describing benefits of a Section 18A Certificate for Donors

πŸ’°Social stability, by supporting food security at community level.

πŸ’°Economic resilience, as donors can give while still managing rising costs.

πŸ’°Trust and compliance, because donations are formally recognised and regulated by law.

By donating to a registered PBO with Section 18A status, donors are not only helping people in need β€” they are investing in a safer, healthier, and more stable society, while also receiving a clear and lawful tax benefit. πŸ«±πŸ»β€πŸ«²πŸ½

πŸ’›What Your Donation Means to UsπŸ’›

Support for Children with Cancer:

πŸŽ— Food Parcels

  • Compromised immune systems mean that Children with Cancer need to eat specific foods to help their systems cope with the cancer (they also have difficulty eating due to the Chemotherapy).
  • LFCT aims to send Family Care Packages to each Family once a month to help defray the additional costs at least a bit

πŸŽ— Warm Blankets & Warm Clothing

  • These are necessary all year round as once again, their Cancer Treatments make them feel really cold most of the time
  • LFCT holds various Share the Warmth Drives at least 3 times per year

πŸŽ— Hygienic Living Conditions

  • People often look at us strangely when we mention Cleaning Materials, but the fact is that due to their compromised immune systems, Children with Cancer MUST live in virtually sterile conditions.
  • Due to all the extra costs attached to having a Child with Cancer in the family, cleaning materials (which are expensive) are generally out of the reach of most of our Families

πŸŽ— Toys & Educational Games

  • Children with Cancer spend a LOT of time in the hospital, sometimes for months at a time, and need something to keep their hands busy and their minds off of the battle they are facing (and sometimes they really just need a soft comfort toy).
  • Even when at home, they sometimes need to spend most of their time in bed or laying on the couch
  • Games and puzzles they can play alone or with others help them do this (and if they are a tad educational it helps for all the school they are missing)

πŸŽ— Family & Siblings

We have had people tell us straight out that they will help for a Child with Cancer but not the other children in the family! We DO!

  • When a Child has Cancer, it affects the whole Family, not least of all their siblings, who have to cope with an ill/dying brother or sister as well as the fact that most of their parents’ attention is now on the sick child, and they start to feel invisible! (They are referred to as “Glass Children“)
  • It is for this reason that when LFCT sends clothing, blankets or Xmas Parcels, we include the siblings so that they too feel loved and special.
