LFCT @WORK on Mandela Day
Mr Mandela has spent 67 years making the world a better place. We’re asking you for 67 minutes.
Nelson Mandela’s birthday is on 18 July, and the call is out for people everywhere to celebrate his birthday by acting on the idea that each person has the power to change the world.
The idea of Mandela Day was inspired by Nelson Mandela at his 90th birthday celebrations in London’s Hyde Park in 2008 when he said: “It is time for new hands to lift the burdens. It is in your hands now.“
The United Nations officially declared 18 July as Nelson Mandela International Day in November 2009, recognising Mandela’s “values and his dedication to the service of humanity” and acknowledging his contribution “to the struggle for democracy internationally and the promotion of a culture of peace throughout the world.”

The Little Fighters Cancer Trust does Mandela Day 365 days every year.
However, on Madiba’s Birthday, we encourage companies and individuals to join us in some grassroots work, getting their hands dirty, walking the walk with us, and giving of themselves.
We have partnered on projects as diverse as a knitathon, a room makeover for a Little Fighter, fixing a leaky roof for a child cancer-affected family, and many more wonderful projects over the years.
We encourage Mandela Day Projects as a START of long-term involvement and will accommodate as many groups as we can within one day, doing different projects, each specifically designed for your company and your staff.
However, Mandela Day projects DO need to be confirmed well in advance and not as a last-minute scramble, as our projects take time, effort and hard work to put together. Every LFCT Mandela Day Project fills specific needs and desires mutual commitment and dedication to make the intended impact.
If you or your company would like to get involved please contact us.
