September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honour and remember children and families affected by this devastating disease. September is a time to help give Children with Cancer better outcomes by supporting Childhood Cancer Awareness.
Each September, we make an extra special effort to raise Awareness of Childhood Cancer and the impact that a diagnosis can have on a family. The Little Fighters Cancer Trust’s mandate is to help young cancer patients and their families.
Families, Caregivers, Charities, Non-Profit Organisations and Research groups across the globe observe September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
During the Month of September
- 25,000 families around the world will get the devastating news that their child or teen has cancer.
- 6, 667 families will experience the loss of a child to cancer
More children are being diagnosed with cancer today than ever before!
Unfortunately in Africa, and in South Africa, many of them die because they are either diagnosed too late or because the families cannot afford the expensive cancer treatments and all the other costs that go with a cancer diagnosis.
In South Africa, between 800 and 1 000 children under the age of 15 are diagnosed with cancer every year.
In developed countries the survival rate is as high as 90%; in South Africa, survival rates are around 48.5% or less.
Early detection of Childhood Cancer is Critical – the earlier the diagnosis, the more chance there is of treatment and survival. It is important to be aware of the Childhood Cancer Early Warning Signs.
Please help us to help Children with Cancer and their Families by spreading the above Early Warning Signs poster.
If you or your company would like to make a financial contribution to help us spread our support to even more Little Fighters and their families, we would be MOST grateful.
