The Little Fighters Cancer Trust is looking for YOUR stories. While Child Cancer is a terrible disease and very difficult for both patient and parent/caregiver to cope with, it does not always end in tragedy.
We are seeking stories of our Little Fighters to share with our supporters, as they give those who are currently fighting childhood cancer hope, and hope is the greatest tool in the cancer-fighting toolkit to anyone who has heard the words “you have cancer” or “your child has cancer“!
Your story as a cancer Survivor or as a loved one or caregiver of someone affected by cancer, can be of great encouragement to others.
We are looking for all your stories, even the sad ones… by sharing what you have gone through you can be a great source of help to those still going through it. Even if you do not realise it, we each find ways of coping with the disease itself as well as with the side-effects that another parent/caregiver may find very helpful.
While we do realise that due to various reasons, certain families do not want their child’s battle made public, it is important to share! LFCT will, where requested to do so, not make the child or family’s personal details public… we can use aliases and blur the faces if necessary.
As a Survivor of almost 22 years myself I know the value in sharing my experiences, and just last week I was able to put a mother’s mind at ease about her child’s proposed upcoming operation – an operation that will completely change this child’s life for the better but which the mother was very worried about and did not really want to happen!!! The mother is now fully informed and at peace and ready for the op.
You do not need to be a writer, or even good in English to share your story with us – all you need to do is share your/your child’s story in your own words, and a photo or three, and we will edit it into a beautiful piece of prose that will help others.
Please contact or send your story to firstname.lastname@example.org – we will contact and clear everything with you before publishing.
