Last year LFCT went big during September International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by turning Paarl GOLD – this year we are expanding that to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, and yesterday we started in Stellenbosch.
Yesterday morning started off cold, windy and cloudy, and we were a bit worried that we would not be able to go ahead with our tree-wrapping, but fortunately the weather changed and the sun came out to smile brightly on the Stellenbosch A-Team as we set forth…
We are secretly convinced that Victoria Road is the road in Stellenbosch with the most trees, but we had great fun doing something bright and creative to draw attention to Childhood Cancer… we colour-blocked the long, beautiful road with bright yellow ribbons (gold or yellow is the overall awareness ribbon colour for all Childhood Cancers) on both sides, and it looks stunning!
LFCT will also have awareness tables at Die Braak on Friday 6 September and @ Eikestad Mall on 21 September, so look out for us and pop in to have a chat!
Mnr South Africa’s Mr Heart and LFCT Brand Ambassador, Johan Daniels, and well-known guesthouse owner ans community worker Elize Anthony will also be selling gold ribbons on behalf, as will Stellenbosch’s Mrs Ambassador, Sonja Adonis, who will also be spreading awareness at various creches in the area.
A personal MASSIVE Thank You to every member of the team who helped yesterday – Johan, Sonja, Elize, Cassie, and not to forget our very dapper and “properste” photographer in his “Speshul Sunday Zoot Suit,” Oliver – You guys ‘n gals did a GREAT job and it was a very special day – could not have done it without you. THANKS!!
