The Little Fighters Cancer Trust focuses on a diverse and wide range of support and as the preservation of dignity is a main objective of the work it does, immense effort goes into preventing Children with Cancer and the Families from feeling alienated and forgotten.
Special celebrations that the Little Fighters Cancer Trust takes special care to provide for include but are not limited to:
- Birthdays
- Fun Outings
- Mother’s Day
- Christmas
- Funerals
Birthdays are an important milestone for a Child with Cancer. Unfortunately the family is not always able to celebrate this due to financial constraints. Little Fighters Cancer Trust does birthdays in and out of hospitals, and is known for being able to organise a Birthday Treat for a Child with Cancer in a hospital at the drop of a hat when contacted by a Social Worker or Nursing Staff.
When a Child with Cancer is not in hospital for a treatment, LFCT will make every effort to organise outings for groups and families, offering a little bit of normalcy in abnormal and stressful circumstances.
Mother’s Day is always a huge project for the Little Fighters Cancer Trust; Mothers in Paediatric Oncology Wards in various provinces and cities are treated to a sit-down Mother’s Day Lunch, for which caterers are contracted and the Mothers are also given gifts and flowers.
Christmas is yet another huge project for LFCT, and the reach increases annually. The 2013 Christmas project reached more than 600 Children with Cancer across South Africa. The need has grown so much that it has culminated in a special project called The Christmas Elf Project.

There are also other very important Celebrations and Milestones that we love to share with our Little Fighters and their Families.

The Childhood Cancer Mortality Rate in South Africa is very high. The Little Fighters Cancer Trust will assist the individual Child Cancer Families that it supports on a monthly basis to bury their child with dignity, and without the worry of funeral costs, wherever possible.
